Esteban Abril (1910-1986 ) was born on November 1, 1910, in Paredes de Nava, the birthplace of Berruguete and Manrique, as well as other prominent figures who emerged from this ancient town throughout its history. Between 1931 and 1934, he was enrolled at the Higher School of Painting, Sculpture, and Engraving (San Fernando Royal Academy of Fine Arts) and lived on a scholarship at the El Paular Residence, where he seems to have come into contact with artists and intellectuals such as García Lorca, Buñuel, and Dalí. This environment was undoubtedly fundamental to Esteban Abril's comprehensive development, both artistically and socio-politically. Berruguete is considered the introducer of Renaissance painting to Castile, following his contact with the artistic Italy of the Quattrocento. ( Wikipedia )
