Jeanne Bieruma Oosting (1898–1994) was a Dutch watercolorist, sculptor, etcher, graphic artist, lithographer, illustrator, glass painter, painter, draughtsman, and bookbinder. She trained at the School of Arts and Crafts in Haarlem, the Academy of Fine Arts in The Hague, and the Académie de la Grande Chaumière in Paris. She became particularly well-known as a graphic artist after the Second World War. She won a bronze medal at the 1937 World's Fair in Paris, the Friesland Painters' Prize in 1943, and the First International Peace Prize and the Arti Medal in 1971. In 1970, she provided funding for the establishment of the Jeanne Oosting Prize, which awards two lifetime achievement prizes each year to painters working in a figurative style. Since 1994, this award ceremony has been continued by the Jeanne Oosting Foundation. ( Wikipedia )
