Édouard Chimot ( 1880-1959) was a French painter, illustrator, engraver, and art director. He is particularly known for his work as an illustrator and for having directed, among other things, the publication of some thirty books by Éditions d'Art Devambez during the 1920s in Paris. Chimot studied under Pharaon de Winter at the École des Beaux-Arts in Lille, then under Jean-Baptiste Levert and Alexis Mossa at the École Nationale des Arts Décoratifs in Nice, inaugurated in 1881 and located on Rue Tondutti de l'Escarène, where he truly learned drawing. However, the beginning of his career remains somewhat unclear. It seems that he exhibited for the first time in 1912, which led to a break in his career. It was only from 1919 onward that Chimot truly made his mark on the Parisian art scene. (see more: Wikipedia )
