André Dignimont (1891-1965) was a French illustrator, painter, and engraver. He studied at the Académie Julian after studying languages in England and Germany. He illustrated newspapers such as Le Rire, Crapouillot, and Le Sourire. Colette reveals this: "When I want to be alone with you, I politely move aside your acrobats, your sailors, and your cherry-mouthed petty officers, I apologize to your gentle female cattle, I turn the corner of an empty house whose shutters are beating, peacefully stained with blood, and I find you leaning over a flowery corbel—Jeanette hearts, daffodils, and columbines mingled together (let's not forget the forget-me-not!)—which you paint carefully, moved, and dreamily like a former young girl" ( Wikipedia ).
