Demetrios Emmanuel Galanis (1879-1966) was a Greek painter and engraver who became a naturalized French citizen. He was born in Kymi (on the island of Euboea, Greece) on May 17, 1879, and died in Athens on March 20, 1966. During the First World War, he joined the French Foreign Legion and acquired French nationality in Corfu. Upon his return, Galanis abandoned press illustration and devoted himself to engraving. Many bibliophiles appreciated Galanis's talent; he illustrated more than one hundred luxury books. ( Wikipedia )
